(SUN VALLEY, CALIFORNIA) March 26, 2005 - On Saturday, March 26 twenty-five Mimosa and Jacoranda trees were planted at Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley, California. The planting was sponsored by the Sun Valley Rotary Club in celebration of Rotary International's 100th anniversary.
Community members from around the area participated, including members of Polytechnic's InterAct Club - a Rotary-sponsored service club, the Burbank Boy Scouts Troop and People-In-Progress.
Besides the usual picks, shovels and elbow-grease, heavy equipment was used to cut and remove sidewalk and deliver dirt to the trees.
American Soil Technologies donated Nutrimoist Crystals to the project to help the trees get a good start.
Other people, businesses and organizations participating in the planting were Los Angeles City Councilman Tony Cardenas, the Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce and its Graffiti Busters, Padilla Paving, Anthony Severa, Dimion's, Vulcan Materials, Waste Management and the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power which donated all the trees.
